3. Am I grouped with students of similar ability?
Yes, you are. We do our best to group you with people with similar ability and learning speed because we want to ensure the other person doesn’t slow you down. There are 3 groups that we come across:
- Totally new to the language.
- Has some background.
- Can speak fluently but doesn’t read.
If you fit into any one of the above groups, come and join us.
4. Do I get to keep the materials you provide?
Yes, you get to keep our textbooks, DVDs, and CDs for your revision.
5. How many lessons are in the Essential Conversational Mandarin Course?
There are a total of 12 lessons, one hour each.
6. How frequent are the classes?
Normally once a week. (It means you would finish in 12 weeks = 3 months.)
If you sign up for a one-on-one class or have your own group, it can be accelerated to two or three times a week, or even a custom schedule if you request.
7. What is your schedule?
We have different groups at different times (weekday morning, afternoon, evening, night; weekend morning, afternoon, evening, night).
Our best suggestion to you is: Tell us your preferred time period, and we’ll check to see if it is booked. If it is, we will suggest to you another time.
8. Do I need to bring my own group?
If you have your own group, your group is most welcome to join! At least 2 people (including yourself) are needed to form a group.
If you are alone, it’s alright. Just come, and we’ll fit you into the most suitable group.
9. How hard is Mandarin?
Mandarin doesn’t use alphabets like in English. Instead, it uses unique characters as words.
It is a tonal language. Different tones carry different meanings. For example, in Mandarin, “ma” means “mother” (妈) when in a high tone, but means “hemp” (麻) when pronounced with a rising pitch.
妈 mā “mother”
麻 má “hemp”
马 mǎ “horse”
骂 mà “scold”
Mandarin takes some effort to learn because you need to remember the (1) shapes, (2) sounds, (3) and meanings of the characters. In English, we simply memorize the meaning.
Without a proper system (like ours), memorizing these 3 aspects become hard and draggy.
However, we are so glad that we have developed this brain-compatible learning method to help people. You can spend less time learning Mandarin with impressive results!
We will enable you to go through a method that is the most effective, productive, and takes the least time, and not available anywhere else in the world.
10. How much time do you save me?
We teach you 12 hours for the same content that conventional Mandarin centres teach you for 120 hours.
Conventional centres don’t guarantee you’ll learn it either. Some Mandarin learners, like Michael Phelps, the Olympic gold medalist, probably spent more than 120 hours trying to learn Mandarin, but hasn’t succeeded yet.
11. How are your fees different compared to conventional Mandarin centres’?
Our fees are actually the same as normal Mandarin centres’ fees.
The difference is: For the same amount of content, conventional Mandarin centres’ duration is one year, whereas our duration is 3 months.
So you see, our syllabus is compact and we save you a lot of time.
